UK-REACH

UK-REACH

UK REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals)
is the chemical regulation framework that applies in
Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales) after Brexit.

Aims

Global efforts to protect humans and the environment from hazardous effects of the chemicals.

  • To provide a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the use of chemicals.
  • To make the people who place chemicals on the market (manufacturers and importers responsible for understanding and managing the risks associated with their use.)
  • To allow the free movement of substances on the UK market.
  • To enhance innovation in and the competitiveness of the UK chemicals industry.
  • To promote the use of alternative methods for the assessment of the hazardous properties of substances e.g. quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) and read across.

REACH
Registration

Under UK REACH, manufacturers and importers in Great Britain must register all chemical substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 1 tonne or more per year.

Registration requires companies to collect and assess data on substance properties, hazards, and safe use.

Dossiers are submitted through the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) portal “Comply with UK REACH.”

Key deadlines:

27 October 2023: ≥1,000 tonnes/year, CMRs ≥1 tonne/year
27 October 2025: ≥100 tonnes/year
27 October 2027: ≥1 tonne/year

Failure to register by the relevant deadline restricts manufacturing or importing within Great Britain.

(OR) Only
Representative Services

Non-UK manufacturers exporting chemical substances to Great Britain must appoint a UK-based Only Representative (OR) to fulfill registration duties.

We act as your legal representative, preparing and submitting complete registration dossiers to HSE.

Our team ensures data collection, safety assessments, and continuous communication with authorities for full compliance.

Pharmegich Healthcare Limited successfully represents numerous non-UK companies under UK REACH.

eSDS & SDS

After the REACH and CLP legislations entered into force, the Chemical Safety Data Sheet (SDS) has become the vehicle of communication within the entire supply chain in the EU. The supplier of the substance or preparation must supply and update the SDS in accordance with Annex II of the REACH regulation and taking into consideration the CLP requirements.

In addition, for all the substances where a chemical safety report (CSR) is required, the information in the SDS must be consistent with the CSR and the relevant exposure scenarios (ESs), shall be annexed to the SDS. SDS containing ESs is commonly named as Extended SDS (eSDS). We provides companies REACH & CLP compliant SDSs as well as Extended SDSs.
